Michelle Stephens, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Master Addictions Counselor, and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. Prior to relocating to Georgia, I practiced in Colorado. I have over 15 years of clinical experience in the counseling field, working with adults, adolescents, families and couples.

Talk therapy can help you to realign your mind, body and spiritual connection.

I use an eclectic approach because no two people are the same. This allows me to adopt different tools as therapy progresses and to modify treatment as progress is achieved. We have all had different experiences on our journey to this point, and talk therapy is not one size fits all. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important aspects this process, as healing can be guaranteed in a safe, supportive environment.

I believe in a collaborative approach in which the therapist is a facilitator of change. Just like all living things, people need to have a good environment to grow and thrive. They need an environment that provides them with genuineness (openness and self-disclosure), acceptance (being seen with unconditional positive regard), and empathy (being listened to and understood).

Change is most authentic and lasting when it comes from within.

Background and Experience

I am a Florida native, but I moved to Georgia for college. I received my BA from Oglethorpe University. After finishing my graduate work in Counseling, I moved to Colorado for my post-graduate studies. While in Colorado I specialized in working with people who were struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. I am dual-credentialed as a Professional Therapist, and Certified Addictions Counselor II.

My professional experience has focused on trauma, substance abuse, adjustment issues resulting from major life changes, grief and loss, anger, depression, and anxiety, among others.

I would love to speak with you about your personal journey and goals for change. Please send me a message so that we can further discuss your interest in psychotherapy.
